The strength of Noel Callow guided Royal Suit to victory in the $95,000 Kranji Stakes B over 1200m on Friday night.

After ringing up his 150th Singapore victory aboard Empire Crown in the third event on the program, Callow was seen at his powerful best in getting Royal Suit over the line.

At the finish, Royal Suit wore down Ntini (Amy Herrmann) to score by a neck with Royal Suit’s stablemate The Big Gee (John Powell) three-quarters-of-a-length back in third place.

Trainer Steven Burridge said he will now consider lining-up Royal Suit in the Group 3 Jumbo Jet Trophy at weight-for-age over 1400m next Friday night.

“He’s a day-to-day proposition so you have to take every race as they come along,” said Burridge. “I’ll probably nominate him for the Jumbo Jet and just see how he does during the week.

“I probably don’t won’t to run him three weeks in a row, but he’s fit and in form.

“We’ll just see how he is during the week.”

Royal Suit was backing-up following an unlucky fifth placing behind World Excellence over 1400m last Saturday and Burridge said the gelding had hardly had a run last week.

“He didn’t know he’d had a run last week and pulled-up in excellent order,” said Burridge. “I thought putting him in this race while fit and well would be ideal.”

Burridge described the effort to win as super as the gelding defied the pattern of horses racing on the speed and close to the fence.

“He’s sat three wide without any cover,” said Burridge. “It’s been a super win. They weren’t winning out there earlier in the night.

“It was only the strength of Noel that got him over the line.”

Because of his injury woes, Royal Suit was facing the starter for just the 14th time on Friday night, recording his fourth win and in the process took his prizemoney past the $200,000 mark.

A son of King’s Best from the Slavic mare Jervaux, Royal Suit is owned by the Big Valley Stable who also own the third placegetters The Big Gee.
