Burridge racing got their customary winner in the
first race on Friday the 3rd of September at Kranjji with a win to
the 5yr old Inuvik, by the all conquering stallion Redoute¡¯s choice. Storming
home the previous start to grab 2nd with (R.Stewart) on board,
Inuvik backed it up 14 days later with leading apprentice S Ruzaini on board
taking a 2kg claim.
Early front runners saw Bold Rob and Feeling Good set a good pace both
talking advantage of their favorable barrier draws with Inuvik jumping well
from a terrible gate in 15 but being posted mid field and 3 deep. Riding
instructions from Burridge were to ¡°Go forward as I didn¡¯t think he could get back and finish over the top
of them.¡± On
the turn, Inuvik was smoking his pipe in the running line with a patient ride
from Ruzaini waiting for the run in the straight to open.
Once clear Inuvik sailed home down the outside with a
big performance from a wide gate and looked like a smart horse to race away
with it and pick up yet another win for the Burridge Racing Stable. Bold Rob
hung on for 2nd with Thousand Light putting in an honest performance
to round out the placing. Burridge commented post race ¡°He had a bit of luck getting in even
though he was trapped three wide, he had a bit of cover and that was a big
plus, he¡¯s done a good job as it¡¯s never easy to win with 59kg.¡±
The Maple Stars Stable continues to find success with leading trainer Steven
Burridge notching up another win which comes off the back of a win by Rising
Shadow and the improving Maple Star. Inuvik was purchased for $350,000
yearling.
