The Burridge stable capped off another good weekend of racing with a win to the 5yr Mr Raffles by Storm Creek out of the Foxbay mare Force Fille, from the Raffles Racing stable. With an already impressive start to his Singapore racing campaign, notching up a win in his 2nd start in a class 4 race on the long course C over the 1200m, Mr Raffles then placed behind Éclair Fast Pass and The Gingerbread Man who went on to win the Magic Millions Juvenile Cup. On Sunday at Kranji, Mr Raffles showed his class with a win in the class 3 1400m event winning in style after the perfect ride from jockey Vlad Duric.

After drawing a favourable barrier in 3, Vlad Duric opted to let the early front runner Ten Ten Lai with Shawn Cormack on board set the pace and placed Mr Raffles in the box seat.

The early pace of the race was good with the first 400m sectional in 24.10sec, Duric knowing the turn of foot that the horse possess waited to the top of the straight to make his move on Mr Raffles and impressed in the run to the line after having the dream run.

Zac Missile and Volpista, riden by Danny Beasley and Baryon Vorsta respectvly, both enjoyed the pace of the race and put in nice runs late to get in the placing, but it was all too late and Mr Raffles was never troubled.

Trainer Steven Burridge said after the race “I think the more racing he has at this stage the better it will be for him, he’s just like a big kid at the moment and is still learning what racing is all about.”

Duric thought that the horse would have no trouble running out the mile or further but Burridge suggested that he just wants to keep the horse fit and well and decide on the next plan of attack after the handicappers give him a higher rating.
