The welcomed return of Matt Kellady to the Singapore racing scene after a fall back in March of this year was what the doctor ordered for the Burridge stable with Kellady knuckling down to business on the 4yr old galloper Reel Schmick to get up and score over the 1200m in Class 4 on Sunday the 12th September at Kranji.

Reel Schmick burnt out of the gates and went straight to the front with Cool Cat, Msixteen and Art of Speed all on the early pace. Kellady controlled the race from the front travelling well on the turn on the long course. Coming off the final bend at Kranji, Reel Schmick was pressured at the 300m mark with Cool Cat and Art of Speed laying down the challenge in a three horse race.

A good battle between all three horses proceeded in the run to the line but the Burridge trained Reel Schmick toughed it out and lifted for Kellady in a pressurized finish and prevailed to claim Reel Schmicks first success by three quarters of a length from Art of Speed and Cool Cat.  Burridge commented about the return of Kellady, ¡°That¡¯s just a great result for Matt, he has been working with us for around three months now and never misses a morning.¡±

Reel Schmick is a four-year-old New Zealand-bred gelding by Country Reel from the Azzaam mare Splendifico and was purchased through Wade Burridge at Magic Millions after winning his maiden race at Colac in Victoria, Australia.
