Steven Burridge's World Record (Sivan)
won the $35,000 Maiden (1200m) at Kranji on Sunday, not once but twice,
when he had to overcome a protest when Ronnie Stewart on Lim's Esteem
(2nd) believed the race should have been his.
The stewards didn't
agree though and quickly dismissed the objection.

World Record led the field
throughout the six-furlong event with Lim's Esteem camping a half horse
behind him on the rails, with Power Play (Andrew Calder) and Sky
Saviour (M Zaki) keeping in close contention until the final
stages.
Sivan went for home on World Record at the 300m and as he
did Stewart switched from the rails to the outside of the leader when he
believed there wasn't enough room on the fence.
World Record
knuckled down to the task at hand and scored a neck victory from Lim's
Esteem with On The Line (Matthew Kellady) running home strongly for
third, a further three quarters of a length away.
"I did expect him
to run well," said Burridge.
"He's had a lot of porblems with his
feet and the vets have been doing a good job on him.
"He's no
superstar but if we can keep finding the right races for him, he'll go
OK."
