Carry On Victory on the inside of Arkadian Boy
Carry On Victory had to overcome the extreme outside gate in the seven-furlong event but was very quickly able to pass his competitors to lead on the inside one off the fence.
Charming Angel (Matthew Kellady) and Arkadian Boy (Erasmus Aslam) kept in close contention but there was nothing that looked like springing a surprise over the final stages.
Callow got to work at Carry On Victory at the 300m and the son of Carry The Flag found a final sprint to hold off Arkadian Boy who finished a neck away second, with Red Auspice (Benny Woodworth) finish off his run strongly to place third a further length and a quarter away.
The win gave Carry On Victory (Carry The Flag x Imperial Chariot) his first win from nine starts for the Dragon Stable.
"He's just a one-pacer who deserved to win today. I'm glad I finally got a winner for Mr Tan (Kim Leng)," said Burridge, who also prepares Carry On Winning and Carry On Smile for the Dragon Stable owner.
"He did a good job to cross from his wide alley. One horse took me on, but my bloke was always travelling well, and he did a good job to hang on," said Callow who was resuming after a three-week suspension.
"It was a good win, jockey's just not fit though. But I'll be right." |
