Trainer Steven Burridge has a handy galloper on his hands in Cristoforo (NZ), who won the $65,000 Restricted Maiden (2 & 3YOs) over 1400m (Turf) on Saturday at Kranji.

The three-year-old son of Yachtie has no idea what he is doing out there on the track but he was still able to move up, take a position outside the leader Million Lot (Robbie Fradd) and win going away.
He had a tendency to shift out and then back in over the concluding stages, but his raw ability was plain to see as jockey John Sundradas guided him home for a length victory over No Mercy (Matthew Kellady), with Million Treasures (Alan Ng) a length and three quarters away third.
Burridge was thrilled at the win and grinning broadly commented; “He has no idea has he?
“I ride him every morning in long reins as he carries his head so high, he needs to learn so much, but even with all the work he is still very green.
“I’m surprised he’s run as good a race as he has, he can only improve from that as he gains more experience.”
Cristoforo by Yachtie from Bride Of Pompeii only arrived in Singapore In May, but now he’s had time to settle in and with his first win under his belt, he’s bound to develop into a horse to follow.
S John made it a double for the day when scoring on Mohd Yusof’s Hishatio in the $35,000 Class 5 (1200m) (Sand).
It was a close finish with the stewards having to decide the finish after YF Leong (The Pilot) threw a protest in second against first alleging interference in the home straight.
After deliberation the stewards dismissed the protest and the result stood.
Hishatio won by a short head to The Pilot with Balkan Chevalier in third place a further two and three quarters of a length away. |
