Trainer Steven Burridge rung up a winning double when Drovetti took out the $95,000 Class 2 & 3 Stakes over 1600m on Friday night.

Burridge¡¯s earlier winner came courtesy of Gold Pool in the $55,000 Class 4 Stakes over 1200m.

Sent out the $14 favourite and ridden by Ruzaini Supien, Drovetti scored a two length victory over Bumble Bee (Joao Moreira) with Flying Langfuhr (Mark Gallagher) a length-and-three-quarters away third.

Drovetti (Ruzaini Supien) scores an impressive win on Friday night.

Drovetti enjoyed a good run behind a solid speed which was set by Be A Man (John Powell) over Stealth (Aidel Feiruz). Although caught three wide, Drovetti had cover on the back of Sensible Sam who was outside the leading division.

Soon after turning for home, Ruzaini allowed Drovetti his head and he put the race safely under his control passing the 300m mark.

Burridge described Drovetti as a very consistent galloper.

¡°He had a good preparation last time but had an attack of the thumps after the Derby,¡± said Burridge.

¡°He was able to have a good spell which did him the world of good.

¡°He hasn¡¯t shown any signs of the problem since and hopefully he¡¯ll just keep going forward from here.

¡°He¡¯s no world-beater, just a consistent horse and hopefully he¡¯ll keep putting prizemoney into the bank.¡±

Burridge said the 3kg claim of Ruzaini was a big help in Drovetti claiming victory.

¡°The 59 kg was going to be hard for him and luckily the owners let me put Ruzaini on,¡± said Burridge.

¡°Vlad (Duric) was a victim of circumstances on him over 1400m last time when he was forced to get too far back

¡°Tonight stepping up to the mile was just ideal and the slightly slower pace suited him perfectly.¡±

Drovetti, a five-year-old by Mossman from the Paullac mare Clareta, has now won five of his 15 starts since joining Burridge¡¯s stable and has now won around $280,000 in prizemoney for the Ninetyfive Emperor Stable.
