Burridge at it again

Trainer Steven Burridge continued his sparkling recent form with an early double on Friday night.

After landing a career best five winners a week ago and a further winner last Sunday, Burrdige won the opening two races.

He opened proceedings when Dynamic Dan, ridden by Ruzaini Supien, scored a four-and-a-half length victory in the $35,000 Class 5 Div. 2 Stakes over 1200m before debutant Black Ice, ridden by Vlad Duric, took out the $65,000 Restricted Maiden over 1200m.

Dynamic Dan opens proceedings under Ruzaini Supien.

It was Burridge¡¯s eighth winner at the last three meetings and places him as a clear leader on the Trainer¡¯s Premiership Table with 13 wins for the season.

Burridge said Dynamic Dan, who scored by four-and-a-half lengths, was having his 14th start since arriving in Singapore for just two third placings previously, has been a disappointment since his arrival.

¡°He has ran a couple of sound races, but there were times when I expected better of him,¡± said Burridge.

¡°Tonight I thought he was well suited. He was down in grade and hopefully now that he¡¯s got this win under his belt he may be able to win another.

While Burridge had been confident of Dynamic Dan opening his account he is expecting bigger things to come from Black Ice following his impressive two-and-a-half length victory.

¡°I think this bloke has a lot of ability but he¡¯s still very green,¡± said Burridge. ¡°He¡¯s shown some good ability on the track and his trials have been sound.

¡°I was a bit worried about the draw, but Vlad rode him well and got a good run through the race.

¡°Just after turning for home I was pretty confident of him winning.¡±

Black Ice was another purchase by Burridge¡¯s son Wade who found the gelding after he won a trial at Cranbourne in Melbourne last May.

The double is up for Burridge with Black Ice and Vlad Duric combining to take
Race 2 on Friday night.

¡°We did pay a bit of money for him but I think on that win we should recoup that money,¡± said Burridge.

¡°Wade really liked the horse and we were able to buy him privately from the owner after he won a trial for Mick Kent.

¡°He¡¯s been a good doer and I was a little worried whether he was ready for this, but I wanted to get a run into him before we switched back to racing on the Polytrack.

¡°He¡¯s got plenty of scope about him and he settled pretty well in the run, so I don¡¯t think he¡¯ll have any trouble getting a little further.¡±

Black Ice is a three-year-old by Mugharreb from the General Nediym mare Lady Migaloo and is the only galloper from his sire to race here in Singapore.

Dynamic Dan, who raced in Perth as Redo, is by Danetime from the Joindre mare Refurbish.
