No risk, Burridge has another good horse

Risky Business (AUS) might not be too appropriately named if he continues to win races like he did on debut at Kranji.

The three-year-old trained by Steven Burridge had had two starts in his native Australia for two thirds and arrived in Singapore in July, 2007.

Burridge took his time with the well-bred son of Danehill Dancer and when he was turned out for the $65,000 Initiation (1200m) on Friday night he was absolutely spot on.

Settled off the pace being set by Who Dare Wins (Barend Vorster), Gate Crasher (KB Soo), Carry On Glory (Danny Beasley) and Protégé (Sheryl Cheam), jockey Matthew Kellady was able to get Risky Business to relax nicely in the run.

There were plenty going for home in the straight and while for a moment it looked like it was going to be between Protégé coming quickly down the centre and Who Dare Wins on the inside, Kellady was getting to work on Risky Business who was starting to lengthen stride nicely.

Bursting through a narrow gap, Risky Business went on for an impressive length and three quarters win from Carry On Glory, with Protégé having to settle for third a further half length away.

“I’ve had him for a little while now, but even though he’s had the couple of starts in Australia, he is still very babyish,” said Burridge of Risky Business (Danehill Dancer x Sky Watch).

“He’s a nice type though and he’ll improve as he keeps learning.”
